Speech & Language Resources

Articulation/Phonology
Speech sound disorders involve difficulties with perceiving, producing, or organizing speech sounds. These can affect a child’s ability to be understood and may include phonological rule errors, motor production challenges, or disruptions in speech rhythm and stress.

Language
Language disorders make it difficult to understand others (receptive language) or express thoughts, ideas, and feelings clearly (expressive language). This can affect vocabulary, grammar, and social communication skills.

Fluency (Stuttering)
Fluency refers to the smoothness, rate, and effort of speech. Stuttering disrupts speech flow through repetitions, prolongations, or blocks. It may also be accompanied by tension, avoidance behaviors, and negative emotional reactions, impacting overall communication.

Voice

Voice disorders affect the way a person’s voice sounds. They may cause hoarseness, breathiness, or nasal speech (hypernasality or hyponasality). Issues with pitch, volume, or vocal strain can also make speaking difficult or lead to voice loss.
